Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if we are good fit?

I know how difficult it can be to find a psychiatrist or psychotherapist who is the right one for you and what you hope to achieve. This is why I offer a free 15-minute phone call, where we can briefly talk about what brings you to treatment and you can ask any questions you might have. If we decide we are are not the right fit for one another, I will provide a referral to a colleague or institution that I have worked with personally and trust.

Can I see you for both psychotherapy and medications?

For many people, seeing a psychiatrist who also works with them in psychotherapy can be simpler and more affordable. Whether you see me for either medications, psychotherapy, or both, I always take the time to get to know you as a unique person, do a thorough evaluation, and collaborate with you about the best way to use our time together. If you choose to keep your existing psychotherapist, I will work closely with them to ensure your care is integrated and aligned.

Do you provide services over video/virtually?

Yes, I see patients virtually, in-person, or a combination of the two. When possible, I try to meet each person I work with at least once in person, so that we can share space and get to know one another face-to-face. I am licensed to practice in New York State, so you must be physically located in New York when we meet for a video call.

Do you work with insurance?

I do not work directly with any insurance plans. I provide a monthly invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network coverage reimbursement. I can also help you find out what benefits your insurance plan has that might be able to support our work.

There are many advantages to working with an out-of-network private practice psychiatrist. All correspondences are directly with me, not a secretary or staff member. I am also able to offer types of treatment that go above and beyond what is typically billable by an in-network psychiatrist.

What will treatment cost?

Please reach out to discuss my current rates, and how I can make working with me accessible to your unique circumstances. I offer sliding scale fees for patients seeking psychotherapy one or more times weekly.

What will our first meeting be like?

After our consultation call, we will schedule a 90-minute evaluation. This is meant to be a thorough yet conversational review of your history, your challenges and strengths, and what you hope to achieve in treatment. This is so we are not rushed and there is enough time and space to cover all relevant aspects of your experience. At our second appointment, I will offer treatment recommendations, and we will then decide if we’d like to continue working together. If we decide not to move forward, I will provide an informed and trusted referral.
